Major Lazer cartoon series to air on Fox in 2015

on August 22, 2014, 12:55pm

Back in 2011, both Odd Future and Diplo’s alter ego Major Lazer were slated to get their very own Adult Swim shows. While the series from Tyler, the Creator and co. did come to fruition — spawning lots of hilarious moments — Major Lazer’s never saw air-time and seemed to be shelved indefinitely.

However, according to Billboard, Fox has now picked up the show and it’s finally set to debut in 2015. The animated series will reportedly follow a “Rasta superhero” (likely Major Lazer). It will also come with its own soundtrack, featuring new collaborations with Cat Power and RiFF RAFF.

Billboard reports that the launching of the Major Lazer cartoon will also coincide with the third Major Lazer album and follow-up to 2013’s Free The Universe. At the moment, he has 30 tracks already in the works.

In the meantime, Diplo has been busy collaborating with a handful of musicians, including Lorde, Sia, Skrillex, and yes, even Madonna, who may also later appear on his new LP. The highly-influential producer also just released his album, Random White Dude Be Everywhere. His estimated earnings for 2014 alone total about $12 million.
