From the green-studded weed suit to the inflatable penis to the never-ending twerks, Miley Cyrus has generated quite a bit of controversy with her Bangerz tour. But now all the headline-grabbing behavior has reached critical mass, as the Dominican Republic commission that oversees public performances has apparently gotten wind of Cyrus’ onstage antics and decided they don’t want any of it in their country. Yes, Miley Cyrus has been banned from performing in the Dominican Republic.
The pop singer was to set to play Santo Domingo’s Estadio Quisqueya on September 19th; tickets, ranging from $27 to $370 dollars in price, have been on sale since July. However, because Cyrus “undertakes acts that go against morals and customs, which are punishable by Dominican law,” the commission has decided to cancel the concert outright.
Cyrus, who recently finished touring with fellow controversial pop star Lily Allen, has a handful of other South American tour dates before she heads overseas to Australia. Find her full itinerary here.
