Mount Eerie announces new album, Sauna, plus US tour dates

on August 26, 2014, 5:05pm

Singer-songwriter Phil Elverum, aka Mount Eerie, has always had a steady release schedule, but the last few years have been especially prolific. In 2012, he released two full-length albums in Clear Moon and Ocean Roar. Then, last year, he reissued the Microphones’ entire back catalog and released both a live album and Pre-Human Ideas, a collection of re-recorded tracks culled from Clear Moon and Ocean Roar.

Now, Elverum has announced plans for his next release, Sauna, which will arrive in early 2015. Recorded over the last 15 months in Anacortes, Washington, the double album deals with the themes of “Vikings and zen and real life,” according to a press release.

In anticipation of the album’s release, Elverum will hit the road to debut “extremely stripped-down” versions of the album’s 12 tracks. Spanning the entire month of September, the 20-date outing features support from indie rockers Mecca Normal.

Consult the full schedule below, followed by the video for “Ocean Roar”.
