Watch: Alt-J’s new video for “Left Hand Free”

on August 07, 2014, 11:36am

While the video for “Hunger of the Pine” was an action-packed thriller starring a man literally running for his life, Alt-J’s new clip for “Left Hand Free” is decidedly way more chill.

Filmed along the Guadalupe River near Austin by director Ryan Staake (Diplo, Major Lazer), the visual reads like a snapshot of a young Texan’s dusty, but darn good summer break — complete with fireworks, pickup trucks, and lazy afternoons spent baking in the sun with a temporary fling. The U.K. indie rockers noted that the twangy “Left Hand Free” was made to appeal to “American truckers with ‘Good Riddance To Bin Laden’ stickers,” but I can see these kids sportin’ Alt-J t-shirts in no time flat. Watch the video below.

“Left Hand Free” appears on Alt-J’s forthcoming album, This Is All Yours, due out September 23rd in the US via Warner Music. In support of said LP, the band will be touring all this fall. Consult their itinerary below.
