Watch: Mike Patton’s Tomahawk, as terrifying puppets, in video for “South Paw”

on August 13, 2014, 12:30pm

I have a cousin who, as a toddler, was terrified of puppets. So much as a glimpse of a Kermit the Frog or Lamb Chop and she couldn’t sleep that entire night. Luckily, she’s now a grown woman with a house and chickens and nary a fear of inanimate objects made of plush.

However, if there’s anyone who could get her shaking in her Mary Janes once more, it’d have to be Mike Patton and his long-running supergroup Tomahawk. In their new video for the Oddfellows standout “South Paw”, the band members are transformed into puppets (think low-grade Crank Yankers) before convulsing their way through a hellish performance piece. While I had thought Genesis’ video for “Land of Confusion” was the scariest puppet video ever (seriously, just look at puppet Phil Collins), this clip practically makes it look like an episode of Eureeka’s Castle. The Muppets on acid? Yeah, you wish it were that whimsical.

Watch it below. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go and try to “RickRoll” my cousin into watching the very ending.
