100 famous bass riffs and drum beats in one take — watch

on September 12, 2014, 11:59am

A few years back, the Chicago Music Exchange traced the legacy of guitar riffs in a video of Alex Chadwick playing 100 classic riffs in one take. While the guitar riff is probably the first thing most fans think of when considering memorable music, guitarists aren’t the only ones who have left their indelible mark on recording history. Now CME is back to honor those who keep the groove going by showcasing the 100 most famous bass riffs and drum beats, again, in just one stunning take.

Here, bassist Marc Najjar of CME and drummer Nate Bauman of Reverb.com (who also both play together in the Chicago rock act Royale) jam through the history of rock ‘n’ roll. Without ever taking so much as a breather, the two blitz through classics from The Beach Boys, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, Stevie Wonder, The Clash, Joy Division, Nirvana, Weezer, Tool, and Daft Punk, among many many others.
