On Friday, Cee Lo Green was sentenced to three years of probation and 45 days of community service after pleading no contest to felony ecstasy possession, according to Las Vegas Review-Journal. Green was accused of furnishing ecstasy to a woman during a 2012 dinner in Los Angeles.
Green had sex with the woman, but maintained that it was consensual and prosecutors chose not to pursue rape charges. Yet in the face of criticism, Green felt compelled to defend himself.
In a series of bizarre tweets made over the weekend (via Billboard), Green offered his own definition of rape. “If someone is passed out they’re not even WITH you consciously,” he tweeted, adding, “People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!”
Green eventually deleted the tweets and sought to clarify his comments on Monday. He tweeted, “Let me 1st praise god for exoneration fairness & freedom! Secondly I sincerely apologize for my comments being taken so far out of context. I only intended on a healthy exchange to help heal those who love me from the pain I had already caused from this. Please forgive me as it was your support that got me thru this to begin with. I’d never condone the harm of any women. Thank you.”
