Interpol perform for “future bandmate” David Letterman — watch

on September 10, 2014, 8:44am

Over the years, Interpol has played nearly every late night show out there: The Tonight Show with Jay Leno; Conan; and even Last Call with Carson Daly. Yet there’s one show they’ve returned to time and again, and that’s The Late Show with David Letterman. Mr. Excitement himself has played host to the New York rockers on two previous occasions, once in 2007 and again in 2010.

It only makes sense, then, that the band would pick Letterman to make their television return as they bolster the promotional campaign behind their first album in four years, El Pintor. For Tuesday night’s appearance, Interpol delivered a rollicking rendition “All The Rage Back Home”.

So, just how did Letterman greet his old buddies? By asking to be in the band.

Interpol will tour behind El Pintor for much of the remaining year. Their US leg kicks off next week and runs through early December, with a stop at Austin City Limits along the way. Consult their full schedule here.
