British producer Julio Bashmore was originally part of the PMR Records class that gave rise to the likes of Disclosure, Jessie Ware, and Sam Smith. Though he’s since moved on to Broadwalk Records, his knack for spinning slick house music hasn’t changed in the slightest. Case in point: his latest single, “Simple Love”.
Singer J’Danna unfurls a few silky lines about matters of the heart, but the song is mostly an instrumental affair that highlights Bashmore’s ability to work with space and multiple layers of sound. Even without vocals criss-crossing throughout to tell a story, “Simple Love” works as an atmospheric yet titillating reflection about the complexities of romance.

“Simple Love” is expected to appear on Bashmore’s forthcoming full-length debut, due out early next year. He is also one of several producers on Ware’s forthcoming sophomore LP, Tough Love.
