Aside from a Johnny Cash cover and self-remix of “Ceilings”, 2014 has been a relatively quiet year for Local Natives. Instead of churning out new music, most of the band’s headlines have come from the road, where they’ve spent the last 12 or so months touring in support of their latest album, Hummingbird. Case in point: The LA outfit recently played a show at the Santa Monica pier, where they pulled out a cover of Little Dragon’s groovy 2007 track, “After The Rain”.

Trip-hop and soul aren’t exactly the first things that come to mind when one thinks about Local Natives, but with the help of former tourmate and current Karen O band member Moses Sumney, the indie rock outfit do Little Dragon justice.

And here’s Little Dragon’s great original for comparison.
