Watch: Cage The Elephant’s video for “Cigarette Daydreams”

on September 04, 2014, 3:25pm

Later this week, Cage The Elephant will kick off a month-long US tour alongside The Black Keys. In anticipation, the indie rock outfit have let loose a stirring music video for Melophobia highlight “Cigarette Daydreams”.

Directed by Mark Pellington (who’s helmed clips for Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails, and Pearl Jam), the video tells the bizarre, often tangled tale of a woman (played by frontman Matt Shultz’s wife) who is struggling to find peace in her life. A few black-and-white scenes show her desperately running away from something or someone; others suggest that she finally escapes the demons that haunt her through her own fiery “death.” But does she actually die? And at the hands of whom (or, perhaps more aptly, what)? Dun dun dun.

Watch the video below.
