A Place To Bury Strangers announce new album, Transfixation, share “Straight” — listen

on November 19, 2014, 10:15am

Brooklyn noise rock outfit A Place To Bury Strangers will release their fourth studio album, Transfixation, on February 17th via Dead Oceans.

The 11-track effort is described as the “product of two years of constant touring and recording since the release of 2012’s Worship.” The new LP was tracked at Brooklyn’s Death by Audio (which was co-founded by guitarist Oliver Ackermann), and marks the debut release with drummer Robi Gonzalez, who joined the band in spring 2012.

A press release adds that with Transfixation, the trio “trusted its instincts and tried to keep things as pure as possible. If that meant a mess of cross-contaminated microphones and mud-caked mistakes, so be it. Music is much more exhilarating when it’s unpredictable, and this is very much an unpredictable record.” Gonzalez is also noted for helping to “push the band’s recorded sound closer to the intense level of its infamous live shows.”

As our first taste, A Place To Bury Strangers has shared the album’s lead single, “Straight”, a surf rock-inspired blitz marked by blown-out guitars and a pulverizing rhythm section. Listen in below.

Transfixation Tracklist:
01. Supermaster
02. Straight
03. Love High
04. What We Don’t See
05. Deeper
06. Lower Zone
07. We’ve Come So Far
08. Now It’s Over
09. I’m So Clean
10. Fill The Void
11. I Will Die

The band has also announced a US tour for early next year. The 21-date leg kicks off February 17th in Brooklyn, NY and wraps up March 18th in Seattle, WA, at which time they’ll depart for Europe. Consult the full schedule below.
