Belle and Sebastian have shared the video for “The Party Line”, the lead single to their upcoming ninth studio album, Girls in Peacetime Want To Dance. Directed by Leblanc + Cudmore, the clip visualizes the album title to a T, depicting a young girl’s night out on the town, complete with extravagant dance moves (courtesy of choreographer Robert Binet), surreal sequences involving a knife (?), and an especially hunky love interest. I won’t spoil the ending, but given that it’s Belle & Sebastian, you should expect oodles of heartache and melancholia. Throw on your finest dancing shoes and watch it below.
Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance is due out January 20th, 2015 via Matador Records. Read our staff’s ranking of the band’s studio albums from worst to best.
