AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd recently avoided a murder charge of attempting to hire a hitman, but he’s not yet in the clear. The New Zealand native is still being charged with threatening murder, as well as possession of methamphetamine and marijuana. Video of the bail hearing for the latter charges has appeared online (via NBC News).
The clip opens with a very twitchy-eyed Rudd standing in court before cutting to him leaving the building after the bail was posted. A reporter asks if he has any comment for his fans, to which he replies, “No, I haven’t got any fans.” Asked what he thought of the charges against him, he says, “Well, they’re [bullshit, ain’t they?]” He then proceeds to piggyback ride a security office to his car, which he promptly backs up into the road and stops in front of an oncoming semi. It’s a bizarre scene to be sure, and you can watch it below.
The other members of AC/DC said in a statement to Rolling Stone that they were made aware of Rudd’s arrest at the same time as the rest of the world. They went on, “We have no further comment. Phil’s absence will not affect the release of our new album Rock or Bust and upcoming tour next year.”
