On January 27th, San Francisco-based folk musician Jessica Pratt will release her sophomore album, On Your Own Love Again, via new label home Drag City. Spanning nine tracks, the LP serves as the follow-up to her excellent 2012 self-titled debut. In anticipation, Pratt marks her return with the aptly-titled lead single “Back, Baby”.
Accompanied by little more than the soft purr of an acoustic guitar, Pratt ruminates on a past love. Despite being mostly subdued, Pratt’s voice carries an inherent, almost transparent sense of vulnerability. Couple that croon with powerful lines like “Your love was just a myth I devised,” and it’s as though we listeners are able to peer right into Pratt’s soul. Listen in below.
