Mac DeMarco detained, fans arrested for moshing at UCSB concert

A Mac DeMarco concert at the University of California Santa Barbara ended in chaos after DeMarco was detained and several fans were arrested for disorderly conduct.

According to the Santa Barbara Independent, USCB police were first called to DeMarco’s Friday night concert after attendees began moshing. A 22-year-old male was arrested after allegedly challenging security officers to a fight, and a 21-year-old female for moshing and resisting an officer. The female also allegedly assaulted a jail official.

Despite the unrest, the concert continued. However, after DeMarco crowd surfed and climbed a railing to the second floor of the venue, he was detained by police. According to UCSB Police Lt. Mark Signal, officers didn’t realize DeMarco was the performer until they questioned him outside.
