Rick Ross, Jay Z, and Timbaland team up for “Movin’ Bass” — listen

on November 11, 2014, 8:38pm

Earlier this year, Rick Ross and Jay Z continued their long string of collaborations with “The Devil Is A Lie”, appearing on Ross’ own Mastermind LP. Now, as Ross prepares to release his second album of the year, Hood Billionaire, the heads of Maybach Music Group and Roc Nation reconvene for “Movin’ Bass”.

Despite its title, the song’s beat of skittish drums and hodgepodge studio effects (courtesy of Timbaland) is distinctly lacking in the bass department. More than that, Hov has been left with chorus duty, which is rather disappointing given that the best part of “Devil” was the subtle back-and-forth between both MCs. Still, Ross gains extra confidence when in the company of Jay Z, spitting the same lines about drugs, guns, and girls but with extra deftness and a certain unassuming intensity. Listen in below (via In Flex We Trust).

Due out November 24th, Hood Billionaire also features contributions from R. Kelly, Big K.R.I.T., Project Pat, Snoop Dogg, and K. Michelle, among others. Pre-orders are ongoing.
