Though just two years into its existence, Berlin’s Soda Fabric has worked alongside an impressive list of established indie rockers. In support of its debut EP, last year’s Tears On The Beach, the surf pop outfit has played alongside the Smith Westerns, Drenge, and the enigmatic Daniel Johnston. They then began work on their debut album, enlisting Yuck’s own Max Bloom to handle the mixing process. The end product, Atlantis, is due out in Spring 2015 via Anova Music.
To accompany today’s announcement, Soda Fabric has shared the album’s lead single, “Bitter Moon”. Opening with waves of melodic fuzz and distortion, the shoegaze-tinged track quickly segues into a stream of summery guitars and booming bass tones. Listen in below.
“The first time we’ve played this song live was during the Daniel Johnston show in Tel Aviv,” drummer Shachak Itzkovitz said in a statement. “We performed as Daniel’s live band, and then played a few songs of our own to the audience. The power, energy and spirit we gave to ‘Bitter Moon’ that day has stayed with us ever since.”
