These days there’s a lot of hoopla — and deservedly so — regarding J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Star Wars film The Force Awakens. However, there’s another equally exciting Star Wars project in the works, and fans won’t have to wait until next Christmas to see it.
According to EW.com, Jason Reitman is staging a one-night only live reading of The Empire Strikes Back this coming Thursday at the Los Angeles’ Ace Hotel. And he’s got quite a cast lined up: Jesse Pinkman himself, Aaron Paul, will play the role of Luke Skywalker, while J.K. Simmons has been cast as Darth Vader.
Other cast members include 24 president Dennis Haysbert playing Lando Calrissian, comedian Kevin Pollak playing Yoda, and none other than Stephen Merchant of Hello Ladies fame playing CP30. Additional cast members will be revealed in the coming days.
The event is the latest in a series of live performances of movie scripts Reitman stages each month at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Click here to find more info and grab tickets.
