When Winston Yellen, aka Night Beds, released 2013’s Country Sleep, he positioned himself as a golden-voiced bard of gorgeous, twangy folk. Earlier this year, however, the Colorado-born singer-songwriter suggested a shift in musical gears by guesting on Danish producer Tomas Barfod’s electronic single “Sell You”. Now, Yellen has further indulged his EDM impulses with a new single titled “Me, Liquor & God”.

On the track, the lap-steels have been traded in for pre-programmed drum patterns and undulating synths. Still, Yellen’s breathy and soothing coo remains firmly intact (even with slight Auto-Tune), allowing for resonant lines like “I keep dreaming about you all the damn time” to land rather beautifully.
