Purity Ring have been at work on the follow-up to 2012’s excellent Shrines for well over a year now. In the meantime, they’ve maintained their public presence with a string of sporadic remixes, including ones of Lady Gaga and Soulja Boy, in addition to collaborations with both Danny Brown and composer Jon Hopkins.
Today, the duo has shared its first new, original composition in over two years: “Push Pull”. Here, Purity Ring display their continued development of their playful and vibrant brand of dream pop. Megan James’ angelic vocals ride a wave of chirpy synths and Corin Roddick’s trademark whimsical drum machines. Listen in and watch the accompanying visualizer below.
“Push Pull” serves as our first taste of the duo’s as-yet-untitled sophomore LP, due out next year via 4AD.
