Spooky Black is the moniker of a mysterious, do-rag donning 16-year-old Minnesotan who became a viral sensation thanks to his glitchy, sexually-tinged brand of R&B and his wonderfully retro music videos. Today, the rising crooner has debuted a new song called “Worn”, but he’s shed the moniker and released the track under his real name: Corbin.
Although the name has changed, the music is as solid as ever. While his excellent single “Without You” made our Top 50 Songs of the Year list, “Worn” almost rivals its predecessor. Over a sinewy beat courtesy of producers Shlohmo, D33D, Bobby Raps, and Psymun, Corbin highlights his still-developing voice, bouncing between sounding gutturally aggressive and delicately smooth.
