Terminator Genisys, the fifth film in the Terminator franchise, is scheduled to hit theaters on July 1st, 2015. In anticipation, the first trailer has premiered online. Watch below.
The film is directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) and stars Emila Clarke (Game of Thrones) as Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Zero Dark Thirty) as John Connor, and Jai Courtney (Divergent, Jack Reacher) as Kyle Reese, along with Arnold Schwarzenegger, who will once again reprise his role as the Terminator.
Terminator Genisys is set in the year 2029. According to IMDB, “John Connor, leader of the resistance continues the war against the machines. At the Los Angeles offensive, John’s fears of the unknown future begin to emerge when TECOM spies reveal a new plot by SkyNet that will attack him from both fronts; past and future, and will ultimately change warfare forever.”
In its own preview of the movie, Entertainment Weekly, writes, “Sarah Connor isn’t the innocent she was when Linda Hamilton first sported feathered hair and acid-washed jeans in the role. Nor is she Hamilton’s steely zero body-fat warrior in 1991’s T2. Rather, the mother of humanity’s messiah was orphaned by a Terminator at age 9. Since then, she’s been raised by (brace yourself) Schwarzenegger’s Terminator—an older T-800 she calls “Pops”—who is programmed to guard rather than to kill. As a result, Sarah is a highly trained antisocial recluse who’s great with a sniper rifle but not so skilled at the nuances of human emotion.”
Terminator Genisys is the first of three planned films to be released in the coming years by Paramount.
