The Julie Ruin shares unreleased song “Blueberry Island” — listen

on December 18, 2014, 11:30am

Last year, Kathleen Hanna’s punk rock project The Julie Ruin issued its full-length debut, Run Fast. Now, a previously unreleased track from those album sessions has surfaced. Entitled “Blueberry Island”, it’s a melodic and downtempo number with a decidedly dreamy ’60s vibe. If the song sounds familiar, it’s because it was featured in the 2013 Hanna-focused documentary, The Punk Singer. Listen to “Blueberry Island” below.

The track will be available for purchase as a 7-inch via an exclusive online pop-up store run by Dave Sitek’s Federal Prism label. Its corresponding B-side is a YACHT remix of Run Fast highlight “Right Home”. For more information on the pop-up store, including how to pre-order the “Blueberry Island” 7-inch, head here.

Below, revisit The Julie Ruin’s video for “Just My Kind”.
