On “Really Love”, Brooklyn electropop wizards Body Language sound as though they’ve finally been let out of a cage after years of captivity. Although they’ve fiddled with glimmering synths and warped out beats on previous releases (see 2013’s Grammar or 2011’s Social Studies), this latest track is a whole different kind of beast and marks a new, bolder direction for the quintet.
Here, the pastel, delicate dreaminess of the band’s past numbers has undergone a massive makeover — amped up for the club crowd, or at least those electropop listeners in need of something with a little more meat on its bones. Percussive bleeps ping-pong to and fro in frantic fashion and beats drop mercilessly like the rattles of an earthquake, all in all making for the perfect introduction to Body Language 2.0. Check it out below.
