Bonnaroo has announced its 2015 lineup. Billy Joel, Mumford and Sons, Kendrick Lamar, and deadmau5 serve as this year’s headliners. They’ll be joined by a formidable roster of sub-headliners including Florence and the Machine, My Morning Jacket, Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters, Slayer, Belle and Sebastian, Ben Folds, Alabama Shakes, Childish Gambino, and Tears For Fears.
For Mumford and Sons, it marks their first scheduled performance since taking a hiatus in 2013. Specifically for Bonnaroo, the band makes their long-awaited return to the Farm after bassist Ted Dwane’s emergency brain surgery forced the cancelation of their 2013 headlining appearance. Jack Johnson filled in that year.
Perhaps no act has emerged more synonymous with the festival than My Morning Jacket, whose 2008 four-hour, 35-song late-night set is considered by many to be the best in Bonnaroo history. Jim James and co. will return for their first appearance in four years.
One of this year’s most unique bookings comes in the form of Atomic Bomb: The Music of William Onyeabor. The elaborate production will see an all-star lineup of musicians led by David Byrne and Sinkane’s Ahmed Gallab performing the music of the Nigerian music legend.
Other noteworthy acts include Run the Jewels, Spoon, The War on Drugs, Flying Lotus, Caribou, Gary Clark Jr., SBTRKT, Dawes, Against Me!, Benjamin Booker, Jamie xx, Mac DeMarco, Freddie Gibbs and Madlib, Shabazz Palaces, MØ, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Courtney Barnett, Royal Blood, The Districts, Woods, Rustie, Iceage, Strand of Oaks, Hiss Golden Messenger, SZA, and Tycho.
Also playing are Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Bassnectar, Flume, Hozier, Bleachers, STS9, Earth Wind & Fire, Sturgill Simpson, Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn, Guster, Houndmouth, Hurray For the Riff Raff, Jungle, Trampled By Turtles, Rhiannon Giddens, Shakey Graves, The Very Best, Jerry Douglas presents Earls of Leicester, AWOLNATION, Sylvan Esso, Ryn Weaver, Pokey LaFarge, Phox, The Growlers, Between the Buried and Me, Temples, Rudimental, Odesza, SOJA, and pre-teen heavy metal band Unlocking the Truth.
