Is your favorite band emo? This website has the answer

on January 22, 2015, 3:50pm

Plenty of life’s biggest questions will go perpetually unanswered, like if the chicken or the egg came first and just what was the point of Crystal Pepsi. However, thanks to one new website, there’s at least one question that’ll never cost anyone another night’s rest: “Is This Band Emo?”

The brainchild of the Washed Up Emo podcast, the website gives curious music fans the chance to discover their favorite artist’s emo credentials. There’s no complex algorithm or magical A.I. system involved; instead, Washed Up’s staff offers a fairly hilarious (but no doubt scientific) analysis of artists and their respective discography.

The database doesn’t have every single artist (like The National, The Who, and St. Vincent, among others), and some responses are nebulous at best (Radiohead isn’t emo, but The Bends totally is). Regardless, it’s bound to be a vital resource for those of us that routinely engage in pointless musical debates with friends, loved ones, and co-workers. Plus, it beats compiling TPS reports all day long.

You can find some of the more entertaining results below. Click here to see the credentials for your favorite band and share your favorite answers in the comment section.
