Kanye West’s “Only One”, featuring Paul McCartney, is a bittersweet lullaby sung to his daughter North West from the perspective of his late mother Donda. During an appearance on Thursday’s episode of Ellen, Kanye premiered the song’s accompanying video — or, should I say, home video. Directed by Spike Jonze, it features intimate moments of Kanye and North together in a field. Watch a preview of the video below and see the full thing at Kanye’s website.
“Only One” serves as the first single from Kanye’s as-yet-unannounced seventh solo album. (The Rihanna and McCartney collaboration “FourFiveSeconds” will also appear on the album.) Speaking to Ellen, Kanye said he’s still working on the album, which currently does not have a title. “We’re still trying to find the vibe … [There’s] this transition from what I felt when I did Yeezus to what I feel now and we’re just creating, so we haven’t found it yet.”
Kanye also spoke to Ellen about parenthood and how it changed him, his partnership with adidas, and whether he wants more kids. Update: Watch the full interview below.
