Listen to “Full Bleed”, new single from Thurston Moore’s Caught On Tape

on January 12, 2015, 4:20pm

Thurston Moore and drummer John Moloney regularly record together as Caught On Tape. Operating toward the noisiest end of the sludge metal spectrum, the duo participate in lengthy, feedback-laden jam sessions that are recorded, as the band name might indicate, directly to tape. Having already released three LPs, Moore and Moloney will return with Full Bleed on February 10th.

According to the duo, the LP is a “marked departure” from previous efforts, most notably because the material’s been divvied up into actual songs with their own respective titles. (As Moore explains, “We titled them to identify them as distinct ‘songs’ because that is what they need to be to survive in this fucked landscape of politician dung patrol.”) Even as a more organized unit, Moore and Moloney prove just as noisy as ever. Case in point: the title track, a bone-shattering deluge of sludgy riffs and concussive drums that has enough power to dislodge molars. Listen in below.
