Buffalo, New York indie rock outfit Made Violent finds inspiration in seemingly miserable conditions. Case in point: While writing material for its debut EP, the trio stowed away in a cabin for a week of no showers and “malt liquor breakfasts.” Later, they hammered out the collection of songs in their perpetually freezing practice space. All that self-imposed strife has finally paid off, however, as the band readies the release of Made Violent, due out February 24th via StarTime International.
The EP’s lead single, “On My Own”, captures the band’s affinity for haphazard vibes. Jagged guitar riffs and visceral screams permeate the track, feeling as if it could fall apart at any point before pushing through til the explosive end. Despite its inherent brashness, the song is carried by an infectious melody with just the right amount of pop sensibility. Listen in below.
