Passion Pit’s Michael Angelakos reworks Kate Bush on “Katie’s Croon” — listen

on January 02, 2015, 11:10am

As Passion Pit finishes work on the follow-up to 2012’s Gossamer, frontman Michael Angelakos has been releasing a series of solo demos via his personal Soundcloud. For his latest upload, Angelakos, who records primarily under the Eastern Shift moniker, has shared a track that heavily samples Kate Bush.

On the aptly-titled “Katie Croons”, Bush’s heavenly falsetto from 1989’s “This Woman’s Work” has been spun into a medley of dreamy guitars and dense percussion, resulting in some hybrid psych/pop/trance soundscape that’s as serene as it is utterly beguiling. Listen in below.

Angelakos’ other recent solo offerings include an acoustic version of “Sleepyhead” and a mellow reworking of Barry Manilow’s “Somewhere Down The Road”. Check out more of his recordings here.
