Sharon Van Etten appeared as the musical guest on Thursday’s episode of Ellen, but she wasn’t there supporting her latest effort Are We There, despite it being one of the finest records of last year. Instead, Van Etten used the daytime publicity to debut a brand new song entitled “I Don’t Want to Let You Down”. She’s been playing the song live for the past few months, but this is the most public unveiling of the track yet. (To coincide with her performance on Ellen, the track was also made available for streaming on Spotify.) Reportedly, it’s the first taste of an as-yet-unannounced EP due out later this year.
If you want to see her do her thing first hand, she’ll play a pair of shows in Brooklyn before heading abroad for an international tour throughout March and April. She’ll return this summer when she appears at Boston Calling and Governors Ball.
