“Weird Al” Yankovic has joined the cast of the next Batman movie. No, he won’t be starring in whatever Ben Affleck-starring feature follows Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Rather, Yankovic will lend his iconic voice to the latest animated film from DC Comics, Batman vs. Robin. Yankovic will voice one of the film’s villains, The Dollmaker.
In the Batman comics, Dollmaker is a madman who stitches together body parts of his victims to fashion human dolls. He targets Commissioner Gordon, who early in his career shot and killed Dollmaker’s cannibalistic father, thus bringing him into direct conflict with the Dark Knight. Though Batman vs. Robin is said to be loosely based on writer Scott Snyder’s acclaimed 2012 storyline “Night of the Owls”, Dollmaker is most notorious for being the character who surgically removed the Joker’s face at his own request. (Psychopaths, amiright?)
Fans of the Batman: The Animated Series and the Arkham video game series will be excited to know beloved voice actor Kevin Conroy was also added to the cast, though as Bruce Wayne’s father Thomas instead of the Dark Knight himself. That role once again went to Jason O’Mara, who joins his Son of Batman co-stars Stuart Allen (Robin/Damien Wayne), Sean Maher (Nightwing), and David McCallum (Alfred). Jeremy Sisto will play the Court of Owls’ undead assassin Talon.
Batman vs. Robin is set to debut at Anaheim, California’s WonderCon, which takes place April 3rd-5th. A home release will follow, though no date has been announced.
