Angel Haze premieres new song “Gxmes” — listen

on February 12, 2015, 9:27am

Later this month, CoSigned rapper Angel Haze will return with a new EP called In the Winter of Wet Years, her first release since 2013’s Dirty Gold LP. Today, she’s previewing the EP with “Gxmes”.

Similar to her previous offering “Candlxs”, this new TROY NoKA-produced track sees Haze playing Renaissance Woman, spitting fierce bars and cooking up sugary hooks. “All my opponents are coming up short,” she boasts during the bridge, just seconds after nailing the song’s big trap-pop chorus. Although this recent material marks a new direction for the Brooklyn artist, it’s not all that surprising: She’s already proven she can rhyme like Kendrick Lamar and Drake, so why not look to Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj for inspiration this time around? Listen in below.

Following the release of In the Winter of Wet Years (February 23rd via Republic Records), Haze will issue her sophomore album The Flowers Are Blooming Now later this year.
