In November, English producer Clark released his self-titled album, a 13-track collection of brooding, shape-shifting spells. Just a few months later, he’s already gearing up to drop another project. His new EP, Flame Rave, is due to hit shelves on March 24th via Warp Records. In anticipation, he’s let loose “Silver Sun”.
As he’s proven on the aforementioned Clark LP, as well as on his past Battles remix and Jamie Lidell collaboration, the British beatsmith thrives when surrounded by chaos. Through his adept touch and keen ear for intricate patterns, Clark morphs what may initially sound like cluttered electronic fragments into a hypnotic and compelling creature. Listen in below.
Clark had this to say about the forthcoming Flame Rave:
I started making these ravey tunes to play out at gigs, but they gathered a momentum and gradually formed this E.P. I came back to it again and again — it seemed to work in clubs but also as a sneaky, immersive headphone listen. I love the feel of an almost overwhelming percussive violence being suddenly flooded with heartache and melody. I find that dynamic exhilarating.
I really wanted this EP to capture that. I hope you enjoy listening to it!
