D’ Angelo dazzles Apollo Theater with 14-minute rendition of “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” — watch

on February 09, 2015, 11:55am

This past Saturday, following his powerful SNL debut, D’Angelo returned to New York’s Apollo Theater, the historic venue where he famously won a trio of talent contests early on in his career in 1991. His first official concert in support of the excellent Black Messiah, the R&B singer pulled out all the stops, including wrapping up his set with a 14-minute rendition of the Voodoo classic “Untitled (How Does It Feel)”.

Although D’Angelo began the massive closing number with the robust support of his backing band, he eventually adopted a more intimate stage setting. Toward the final stretches of the song, he can be seen crooning from behind a lonesome keyboard, calling on the rapturous crowd to belt out the chorus with him. With such a magnetic live show, it’s a wonder he’s not on every festival lineup out there. Watch fan-caught footage of “Untitled” below.
