Father John Misty covers Leonard Cohen (again), plays “Bird on the Wire” — listen

on February 24, 2015, 12:15pm

Another day, another cover from Father John Misty: Josh Tillman has often showed his affection for Leonard Cohen, most recently covering the High Priest Of Pathos’ “I’m Your Man” in his hometown of Montreal. On Monday, Misty was at it again, this time while appearing on George Stroumboulopoulos’ “The Strombo Show” radio program.

Although most of the Canadian show’s broadcast focused on tracks from Misty’s own excellent I Love You, Honeybear, he capped off his appearance by tackling the Songs from a Room highlight “Bird on the Wire”. It’s a loving rendition with a few playfully tweaked lyrics, and you can watch the whole thing below.

In case you think Father John Misty is a one trick pony, don’t forget his cover of Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box”.
