Stream: The Districts’ new album A Flourish and a Spoil

on February 01, 2015, 11:13pm

On February 10th, CoSigned Pennsylvania rockers The Districts will release A Flourish and a Spoil, their first full-length LP through Fat Possum Record. In anticipation, the album is streaming in full at NPR.org.

Produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent, The Walkmen, Angel Olsen), the 10-track effort serves as the follow-up to the band’s self-titled third EP, which was released in January 2014.

According to a press release, the LP “captures the boisterous live performances from the quartet, who are all between 19 and 20 years old.” It goes on to add that the album greatly emphasizes frontman Rob Grote, whose vocals “combine equal parts ferocity and yearning.” That emotional dichotomy serves the overall lyrical content, as the band explore “how things grow but eventually fall apart, kind of like a loss of innocence type of thing.”

The album is preceded by two singles, “4th and Roebling” and “Peaches”Pre-orders are ongoing.

Below, watch our interview with the band from last year’s Forecastle Festival.
