Björk’s new album Vulnicura received a surprise digital release back in January after it leaked online two months ahead of schedule. According to a post on Björk’s Facebook, a physical version of the LP is expected to hit stores later this month, complete with its own new cover art seen above.
Designed in collaboration with artist Andrew Thomas Huang, known for his work on Björk’s forthcoming “Stonemilker” Oculus Rift video and Black Lake film, the artwork reimagines Björk as some kind of harrowing human/volcano hybrid. As you might recall, it’s a stark contrast to the digital version’s more lighthearted cover.
In related news, Björk’s upcoming MoMA retrospective in New York is set to launch on March 8th.
