When the film adaptation of Veronica Roth’s Divergent entered theaters last year, it brought with it a soundtrack that featured the likes of ASAP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, and Tame Impala. Now, with the sequel, Insurgent, less than three weeks away, we’ve been given a first listen to its new soundtrack, and it once again features M83.
The French electronic outfit isn’t alone this time, however. They’ve teamed with indie pop band HAIM for the track “Holes in the Sky”. The girls provide the haunted vocal tracks while M83 creates a desolate landscape of sound, shining strings adding a glimmer of light. Take a listen below via MTV.
“We’ve been fans of Anthony Gonzalez and M83 for a long long time so when he reached out to have us sing on the song we were ecstatic,” said HAIM in a statement to MTV News. “We had the best time in the studio with him, it all happened so fast and was so easy and natural. We are so excited to be a part of this movie.”
Insurgent hits theaters on March 20th, though the score isn’t due until September 14th. The soundtrack is out March 17th via Interscope and sees tracks from Royal Blood, Woodkid featuring Lykke Li, Imagine Dragons, and Anna Calvi. Find the tracklist below.
