Update: Michael Biehn may appear in Neill Blomkamp’s new Aliens film

on March 19, 2015, 1:05pm

Michael Biehn has confirmed his participation in Neill Blomkamp’s upcoming Aliens project, joining Sigourney Weaver as original cast members set to appear in the as-yet-untitled film.

Update: While Biehn may end still appear in the film, today’s report has come under question. The initial source of the information, Biehn’s Instagram account, may be fake.

Biehn portrayed Corporal Dwayne Hicks in James Cameron’s 1986 film Aliens. His character was killed off at the beginning of Aliens 3, but because Blomkamp’s film will take place following the events of Aliens, Biehn’s participation is possible.

“I want this film to feel like it is literally the genetic sibling of Aliens,” Blomkamp previously said of his film. “So it’s AlienAliens, this movie.” He stressed that the story won’t “undo” Aliens 3 or Alien Resurrection.

Read Michael Roffman, Dan Caffrey and Justin Gerber’s recent piece on Blomkamp’s Aliens, in which they theorize how Hicks’ character would be worked into the film.

According to Biehn, filming for the Aliens sequel is expected to begin this summer.
