Shana Cleveland & The Sandcastles announce debut LP, share “Golden Days” — listen

on March 11, 2015, 12:05pm

Seattle’s La Luz have been steadily earning their stripes over the last three years, but their frontwoman has been quietly working on a completely different project for twice as long. As Shana Cleveland & The Sandcastles, Cleveland and an ever-rotating cast of musicians craft delicate indie folk numbers about “the weirdness of being inside your own head all the time in the outside world.” Now, she’s finally ready to unleash the project’s debut LP, Oh Man, Cover the Ground, on May 26th via Suicide Squeeze Records.

As a first listen to the 13-track effort, Cleveland has shared lead single “Golden Days”. The track is as mellow as a cloud floating along lush cello notes, bopping along a simple tambourine tap. Cleveland demonstrates her fingerpicking prowess as she sings about “surprise perfect days you spend with someone that will never be anything more,” as she explained to Noisey. “When you’re traveling and missing home and meeting people and leaving them over and over and the magic times when everything feels just right and you think, ‘I should just stay here, maybe this could be my life.'”
