Chaz Bundick, aka Toro y Moi, will release his latest album, What For?, on April 7th through Carpark Records. In anticipation, it’s streaming in full via NPR.org.

The 10-track album follows up Toro y Moi’s 2013 LP Anything In Returnas well as the debut LP from Bundick’s side project Les Sins. Bundick has long been associated with the rise in popularity of chillwave and has employed various R&B and synthpop textures to his recordings. For his latest record, he sought to expand his palette even further.

“I’ve done electronic R&B and more traditional recorded type R&B stuff,” Bundick said in a press statement. “I just wanted to see what else was out there. It’s all coming from the same mindset and point of creativity. It’s just me trying to take what I already have, and then take it further.”

What For? is a glimpse into the life of a guy trying to figure out what it all means,” according to a press release, adding, “It has that special something that Chaz imbues in every Toro y Moi album, his personal filter on the world he experiences. So whatever message you take from the album, don’t forget that it’s good.”

The album is preceded by singles “Empty Nesters”, “Buffalo”, and “Run Baby Run”Pre-orders are ongoing.
