Trevor Noah emerges as favorite to succeed Jon Stewart at The Daily Show

on March 27, 2015, 9:42pm

Jon Stewart will step down as host of The Daily Show later this year. Who might be in line to fill those monumental shoes? According to Variety, current Daily Show correspondent Trevor Noah has emerged as a favorite to succeed Stewart.

Noah, a native of South Africa, only joined The Daily Show late last year. However, after fellow correspondents John Oliver, Jason Jones, and Samantha Bee departed for opportunities at other networks, Noah is “gaining consideration” and has “moved to the short list being put together by executives at the Viacom-owned cable outlet.”

Prior to joining The Daily Show, Noah hosted his own late-night show in South Africa.

Below, watch Noah’s inaugural segment at The Daily Show.
