Former American Idol contestant does surprisingly sultry cover of Radiohead’s “Creep” — watch

Almost every singer with a YouTube channel has taken a crack at Radiohead’s classic “Creep”. The popular Post Modern Jukebox did their own version last summer, but recently revisited their arrangement with singer Haley Reinhart. Reinhart may have come in third on American Idol a few years back, but it’s easy to imagine her winning with a rendition like this.

As is PMJ’s style, the song takes on a smoky, jazzy saunter, but it’s Reinhart’s knockout voice that takes it to the next level. Her sultry vocals move from gentle vibratos to guttural bellows with ease, even tossing a bit of scat. But the highlight comes in the stunning final refrain, with Reinhart belting it out with such strength that even Simon Cowell would be speechless. The kicker? It only took them one take to nail it.
