Tyler, the Creator was a charming highlight at weekend one of Coachella, despite having some choice words for the festival’s “soft” and “boring” VIP section. The animated and outspoken Odd Future MC is currently out touring in support of his surprise new album Cherry Bomb, and his most recent stop was the set of Tavis Smiley’s PBS show.
There, he touched on the new LP, his Golf Media app, his collaboration with jazz musician Roy Ayers, his love of N.E.R.D.’s debut In Search Of…, and life in Los Angeles. Additionally, Tyler spoke about his own perception of himself, describing his artistry as “annoying” and “obnoxious”, yet “smart, very bright” and “borderline genius.”
