Wonder Woman finds new director in Patty Jenkins

on April 15, 2015, 9:14pm

Well, that didn’t take long. Just two days after Michelle MacLaren vacated the director’s chair for Wonder Woman, Warner Bros. has found her replacement in Patty Jenkins.

Comic movie aficionados will see the irony here. MacLaren and Warner Bros. parted ways over what have been called creative differences. A few years back, Jenkins and Marvel had a similar butting of heads over what eventually became Thor: The Dark World. Jenkins was replaced by Alan Taylor, who like MacLaren, is known for directing episodes of Game of Thrones. Oh, the tangled webs of Hollyweird.

As for Jenkins, her career behind the lens began with 2003’s Oscar-winning Monster, though she hasn’t directed a major motion picture since. Her television credits include episodes of Arrested Development, Entourage, and The Killing.

Gal Gadot will make her debut appearance as the Amazon princess in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on March 26th, 2016. Her love interest, Steve Trevor, is believed to appear in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad on August 5th, 2016, potentially played by Scott Eastwood. If true, Eastwood (or whoever ends up playing Trevor) would presumably join Gadot for Jenkins’ Wonder Woman, currently set for June 23rd, 2017.
