After being admitted to a hospital on Thursday following a minor heart attack, BB King has returned to his Las Vegas home under hospice care. The 89-year-old blues legend disclosed the move on his Facebook account, adding, “Thanks to all for your well wishes and prayers.”
King was treated for complications from diabetes and high blood pressure before being released from the hospital.
Laverne Toney, King’s manager and power-of-attorney, denies reports that King’s daughter Patty called the police on him for failing to take King to the hospital following his heart attack. However, Las Vegas police officer Jesse Roybal confirmed that police were called to the house for what he described as “a domestic dispute over medical care.” Roybal also said that a report of abuse was filed for the residence on November 16th. In neither instance were charges filed or arrests made.
Patty has alleged that Toney withheld medication and stole upwards of $30 million from King.
This is the third time in recent months that King has entered a hospital. In October, he cut a Chicago concert short and was treated for dehydration and exhaustion, eventually leading him to cancel his remaining tour dates. He also had a brief hospital stay in early April.
“Mr. King is where he wishes to be,” Toney told The Associated Press. “He’s always told me he doesn’t want to be in a hospital. He wants to be at home.”
