Neon Indian returns with first new song in two years, “Annie” — listen

on May 26, 2015, 11:35am

Since releasing Era Extraña back in 2011, Neon Indian has remained relatively quiet. The Alan Palomo-led indietronica outfit had a song featured in Grand Theft Auto V and delivered a remix EP in 2013, but haven’t been heard from since. In December, Palomo revealed that he was finally hard at work on a new LP, and today he’s shared the first yield of those efforts.

“Annie” bubbles along on tropically filtered guitars and the kind of groove that would pour from a beachside dance hall. Palomo’s vocals sail on the resulting breeze as he tries to reach out to an evasive lover. For all his efforts, however, he’s left begging Annie to, “Answer the machine.” It’s the perfect track for chasing a summer romance, and you can take a listen below.

Neon Indian’s new album is expected later this year via Static Tongues and Mom + Pop Records. More new material will likely be on display when the band stops by FYF Fest this August. For now, check out the single artwork for “Annie”:
