How far would you go to avoid paying those annoying airline service fees? Adam West, a 19-year-old student of Leeds City College in England, literally changed his name to the original Batman actor.
Adam West was known as Adam Armstrong up until recently. As the story goes, the stepdad of West’s girlfriend purchased them airline tickets to Ibiza. “Her stepdad got my name from Facebook but I had put it as Adam West as a joke, because he was the actor who played Batman on TV. ”
“The [airline] was not helpful at all,” West continued. “We showed them we were not trying to change the person, just the name, but they wouldn’t back down … All they needed to do was hit the backspace key on a keyboard and they want to charge me £220?”
Turns out it’s £100 pounds cheaper to legally change your name in England, which is the route Armstrong decided to go. Yes, he literally changed his name to Adam West in order to avoid buying a new airline ticket.
